As you walk the streets of the Philadelphia area, you may get the feeling you have been transported to Great Britain. Inspired by this year’s Flower Show theme “Brilliant!”, 71 businesses have decorated their store fronts and lobbies for the 2013 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show’s Window and Lobby Decorating Contest with some “jolly good” décor.
The 2013 contest includes businesses from Center City, Rittenhouse Row, Manayunk, Chestnut Hill, Kensington, Midtown Village, East Passyunk Avenue, Old City, University City, Fairmount, the South Street Headhouse District, and as far as Doylestown.
A panel of judges will pick the winners in multiple categories ranging from “Most Creative,” “Best Interpretation of Flower Show Theme,” and new this year– the “2013 Grand Champion Award.” For a second year, PHS also encourages Philadelphia residents and visitors to judge by voting in the “Crowd Favorite” category. Become a fan of the Flower Show Facebook page, check out the Window and Lobby Decorating photo album–with photos from each of the participants–and vote for your favorite. The photo with the most votes will win the coveted award.
Awards will be presented at the official Window Decorating Contest Press Conference on Thursday, February 28 at 11:30 am at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Keep a lookout for stunning displays throughout the city to help celebrate Flower Show Week, March 2 to 10.
