The 2012 PHS Pop Up Garden at 19th and Walnut streets is closing today, and we have many fond memories to take us through the cold months ahead. From the opening day ceremony, when visitors filled the space as temperatures soared to near 100 degrees, to the variety of private events and parties, to the story times and activities for kids–the Pop Up was a special place that 6,500 guests visited like it was in their own back yard.
If you want to bid the garden goodbye, there will be a closing ceremony at 11:30 am today (Monday, October 15). It will be a time to celebrate the garden and recognize the inspiring work of the PHS City Harvest program.
We want to thank our official sponsors, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Firstrust Bank, and Castleway Properties, without whom the garden would not have been possible. We also want to thank the Mural Arts Program, DesignPhiladelphia, Public Workshop, Little Baby’s Ice Cream, the Free Library of Philadelphia, the Academy of Natural Sciences, our amazing team of volunteers, and finally—a special thank you to everyone who visited the garden over the past four months! We hope you’ll join us again next spring at our next Pop Up location!!
