Internationally-known landscape architect and author Kim Wilkie will speak on Monday, October 29, 2012, from 7 to 9 pm about his philosophy of land and human settlement, illustrating the ideas with examples of his work. The lecture will be held at WHYY Studios at 150 N. Sixth St., Philadelphia, and Kim will show how ancient traditions of sculpting the land can inspire new forms and meanings, while simultaneously creating habitats for wildlife and spaces for gathering or theater. Longwood Gardens’ East Plaza landform and green wall are two examples of his work. Kim will sign copies of his book, Led by the Land, and books will be available for purchase.
Continuing education credits can be earned for attendance. Click here to register or contact Carol Dutill for more information. The fee is $10 for PHS and Longwood Gardens members, $20 nonmembers.
