This week PHS extends a fond farewell to Maitreyi Roy as she assumes a new role as executive director of Bartram’s Garden.
Maitreyi has been a guiding force at PHS over the past two decades. Among her many accomplishments are the growth of the City Harvest program (and its Roots to Re-Entry and Growers Alliance offshoots) and the partnership with Keep America Beautiful. PHS is recognized nationwide as a leader in urban greening, and that is in no small part due to Maitreyi’s talents and passion.
PHS president Drew Becher says, “This is a fantastic opportunity for Maitreyi, and a great step for Bartram’s Garden, which is acquiring an extraordinary executive. Both PHS and Bartram’s Garden strive to uplift the Philadelphia region as the cradle of horticulture, so I look forward to ongoing collaboration.”
PHS will continue Maitreyi’s legacy by pursuing diverse community-building initiatives, including the formation of green resource centers in key locations across the city. To learn more about Maitreyi and her plans for her new post, click here to read an article by Virginia Smith.
