Pressed flower and foliage creations are a crowd favorite among the artistic class displays at the Philadelphia International Flower Show, and now you can see more than 20 designs in the PHS McLean Library from now to August 10 during “ImPRESSive: The Art of Pressed Flowers and Plants.”
While visiting the show, you can try your hand at helping to create a new piece of pressed flower artwork. PHS will provide pressed flowers, an outline, and glue for you to use. The interactive piece will be on display at the end of the exhibition. ImPRESSive is part of our participation in With Art Philadelphia, a year-long promotion of the city’s cultural offerings.
During the exhibition, the Library will host “The Art and Fun of Pressing Flowers” on Wednesday, July 25, from noon to 1 pm. Preserve the beauty of summer flowers for years to come by making your own pressed flower and foliage creation. Kids can transform pressed flowers into bookmarks, cards, and even mobiles. This family and kid friendly event will feature Philadelphia Flower Show Jr. winners Caroline Anne and Eva Mary Timoney as they demonstrate and discuss this magical art. Space is limited; to register, please click here.
The McLean Library is located on the first floor of PHS headquarters, 100 North 20th Street in Philadelphia. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
