If you are a Philadelphia-area resident but have never been to Chanticleer, well what are you waiting for?! The 35-acre pleasure garden in Wayne, PA, is overseen by a dedicated team that includes seven horticulturists. Collectively they see to a pond garden, Asian woods, and the fantastically titled “ruin and gravel gardens.”
The carefully planned landscape offers several stunning views, as NPR’s Jacki Lyden learned on a recent visit. You can hear about her Chanticleer experience by clicking here.
PHS regularly leads trips to Chanticleer. In fact, there’s a workshop on Thursday, June 28 that allows you to make your own garden chair. Think of the pop of personality a new chair (of your own design!) will add to your property. Click here to register.
If you prefer something a little more hands-off, Chanticleer’s Terry Struve will lead a garden tour that focuses on hot and flashy container plantings. Terry will also offer tips to try at home. Click here to register.
A house-and-garden tour is scheduled for July 18, and unusual annuals will be discussed on July 26. One of these events should certainly accommodate your busy vacation schedule, so don’t wait another season to see everything in bloom at Chanticleer!
