Happy Thanksgiving to one and all! On this day of reflection and appreciation, we at PHS ask, where would we be without you?
First off, to all the PHS members: thank you! Because of your steadfast commitment we are able to grow, evolve, and tackle new projects.
Take, for instance, the first-ever PHS Pops Up Garden at 20th and Market Streets. Thanks to the dedication of more than 150 volunteers, we were able to transform a vacant lot into an inviting, interactive oasis (and produce more than 600 pounds of fresh herbs and veggies in support of City Harvest). Be warned: PHS will pop up again, but where and when are closely guarded secrets!
In Center City and beyond, PHS receives support from people who are dedicated to improving urban environments through greening. It is an honor to work with communities who want to make Philadelphia its very best. Whether you’re a Tree Tender, Garden Tender, Green City Teacher, friend of a park, PLDM volunteer, Roots to Re-Entry employee, YES participant, or go by some other title, we thank you!
Much of the funding for PHS’s greening programs comes from the Philadelphia International Flower Show, so of course we have to thank the exhibitors, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and visitors who make our Flower Show the nation’s Flower Show. We’re only a few months away from Hawaii, and once again we’ll wow the world!
In the more immediate future, the Meadowbrook Farm Holiday Open House arrives December 3. Thanks to everyone who supports Meadowbrook Farm year-round as we continually uplift this Abington Township treasure.
Lastly, it’s been said that you shouldn’t follow but lead. Who says you can’t do both? (At least online!) We would like to thank those who follow us here on the blog, on Facebook, and on Twitter. We love and are thankful for all the feedback, tips, and lowdown on what’s going on and how we can become even better!
Happy Thanksgiving!
