There’s no point denying it, autumn is right around the corner. Kids nationwide are going back to school, and you can too with PHS educational programs. Rather than glue-sticks and crayons, your school supplies are work gloves and trowels.
Enroll in Intro to Garden Tenders and learn what it takes to get a community garden going. Open to groups, individuals, educators, and anyone interested in gardening with others, PHS Garden Tenders is a time-tested winner. Topics include finding a site, getting permission, assessing resources, and finding collaborators.
It all happens in one night: Thursday, November 17, 5:30 to 8:30 pm (Fee: $10). Click here to register.
Educators have a special class just for them, Green City Teachers. This five-session course uncovers ways to integrate horticulture and environmental education into classrooms and offers a forum for sharing ideas.
Teachers, individuals, parents, gardeners, and informal educators are invited to participate. Topics include Basic Horticulture, Food Gardening, Trees, Indoor Gardening, and Habitat Gardens. Act 48 credit is available.
Fall Green City Teachers is offered Thursdays, October 20 & 27, November 3 & 10, 5:30 to 8:30 pm and Saturday, October 22 from 10 am to 1 pm. Fee is $25 for the five-session course. Click here to register.
